Honors Leadership Council

Applications are now open for the Honors Leadership Council

This student body focuses on cultivating community among honors students within the JMHC. The Honors Leadership Council features student representatives for each academic college at Purdue. Each cohort brings students together with their peers, faculty, and staff to promote connectivity. Our goal is to ensure all JMHC students feel a strong sense of belonging and forge meaningful connections throughout their honors experience. Members of the council ideate and bring to life unique events for Honors students, such as field-specific networking nights, crafting, collaborative study spaces, and even off-campus social gatherings.

APPLY TO BE ON THE HONORS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

The application opens each year on February 1st and the HLC will be accepting applicants for new members until January 19th, 2024. Students will complete a written application and a verbal interview. Students can also earn points on Suitable for applying.

The Honors Leadership Council exists to serve the John Martinson Honors College community in four ways: representing diverse student voices and needs; promoting disciplinary networks; building a welcoming, safe, equitable & inclusive interdisciplinary community; providing opportunities for leadership development.

The Honors Leadership Council is composed of ten college cohort teams, one for each disciplinary college. Each team is composed of one Executive Board Member and one to three College Cohort Co-Chairs. The Honors Leadership Council is advised by the college's Student Community Manager and supported by the Community and Engagement Unit.

College Cohort teams engage and support students across the John Martinson Honors College by initiating and inviting students to events, informing students of resources available to them in their respective academic colleges and across campus, and soliciting feedback and input from John Martinson Honors College students. Members of the Honors Leadership Council also serve on task forces as needed to supplement special projects and events throughout the JMHC.
