2023 Education Distinguished Alumni Honored

The Purdue University College of Education celebrated its 2023 Education Appreciation and Alumni Awards, shining a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of distinguished alumni and a notable benefactor. A standout feature of this event was the simultaneous recognition of a husband and wife, Jason A. Ware and Sharita A. Ware. The Distinguished Education Alumni Awards, presented biennially, aimed to honor exemplary professional accomplishments.

Sharita A. Ware, an engineering and technology education teacher in the Tippecanoe County School Corporation and the 2022 Indiana Teacher of the Year, received recognition for her outstanding work in Industrial Engineering Technology and Curriculum and Instruction. Her dedication to making a difference in the lives of her students, particularly those considered hard to reach, resonated throughout the ceremony.

Jason A. Ware, a clinical associate professor in Purdue's John Martinson Honors College, was honored for his significant contributions to Curriculum Studies. In expressing his gratitude, he underscored the central role that family, mentors, and the College of Education played in his distinguished journey.

The couple's acknowledgment of family, the transformative Purdue University experience, and the mentors who influenced their paths highlighted not only their individual success but also their shared commitment to education and community impact.
