Instructors invited to teach a course with the John Martinson Honors College in 2025-26

The John Martinson Honors College (JMHC) invites you to teach a course with us during the 2025-2026 academic year. We are accepting applications now through Nov. 26, 2024.
About Teaching with the JMHC
The JMHC has a strong emphasis on interdisciplinarity, inclusivity, and experiential learning to achieve its goal of making Purdue Honors students world ready. We define world-readiness as being able to live authentically in diverse communities, work inclusively, interculturally, and ethically with people across differences, and in global contexts, irrespective of one’s discipline or occupation. Courses offered in the JMHC are expected to be interdisciplinary and involve at least one aspect of experiential learning. Please take a few minutes to read some of the resources below that can help you create a more successful proposal.
Interdisciplinarity: understanding how disciplines dialogue with each other and the public in meaningful ways to solve complex problems. It requires teamwork, inclusivity, flexible thinking, communication, and ethics. Read more about interdisciplinary education on our website.
Experiential Learning: a planned pedagogy centering on an authentic experience to strengthen students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities, paired with student reflection. These can include active learning, discussion-based learning , project-based learning, research-based learning, intercultural/global learning, service-learning, and other innovative methods. Read more about experiential learning on the Experiential Education at Purdue website.
Additionally, we recommend that all instructors familiarize themselves with world readiness, high impact practices, and inclusive pedagogy.
