NISO Week (Sept. 16-20) guides students toward prestigious awards

Purdue University’s National and International Scholarships Office (NISO) is excited to announce the upcoming NISO Week, taking place from Sept. 16–20, 2024. A week’s worth of sessions will help students learn how to apply for prestigious national and international scholarships and secure campus endorsements for their applications.

NISO Week will feature a series of informative sessions focusing on several distinguished scholarships that offer significant opportunities for students.

The week will begin with an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 16, in HCRS, Room 1060. This event is open to anyone from the Purdue community who wants to learn more about NISO. Staff will be available to chat and share information about the NISO mission. More information and RSVP links are available online.

Instructors and staff are encouraged to promote the week’s remaining opportunities to students. Here’s a preview of a few of the key scholarships that will be highlighted:

  • Udall Scholarship: This award supports students committed to careers in environmental fields or in tribal public policy, Native American health care. Students in their sophomore or junior years are eligible to apply.
  • Astronaut and Goldwater Scholarships: These scholarships are designed for students pursuing future research careers in STEM fields such as engineering, math, or the natural and applied sciences. Sophomore and junior students are encouraged to apply.
  • Boren Awards: This award supports study abroad programs for undergraduates and research for graduate students in countries with languages critical to U.S. national security. It is open to students at any level.
