About
What is the Scholarly Project?
All students in the JMHC must complete a scholarly project (research or other scholarly or creative activity in which new knowledge is created). Scholarly projects respond to the questions, methods, or ideas in your field of study. No two scholarly projects look the same.
Completion Pathways
Pathways to completing the scholarly project
There are 3 options to complete the scholarly project requirement of the John Martinson Honors College curriculum.
MENTOR-BASED PROJECT
Complete a project related to your major or to other educational experiences or propose a project of your own design to the John Martinson Honors College scholarly project committee.
COURSE-BASED PATHWAY: DESIGNATED SCHOLARLY PROJECT COMPLETION COURSES.
Complete HONR 460, 461, 462, or 464 courses designated as fulfilling the scholarly project 3-credit, project-based courses taught by an honors college faculty member, designed to meet the learning outcomes of the scholarly project in one semester.
COURSE-BASED PATHWAY: RESEARCH THINKING PORTFOLIO.
Through HONR 463 (2 credits), students complete the requirement with a critical reflection of their engagement with the Undergraduate Research pillar of the college.

On the scholarly project proposal form, please provide responses to all questions and review your information carefully before submitting it. Once submitted, your application cannot be changed.
Proposal deadlines: October 1 , February 1, March 1
If you are ready to submit verification of completion for your approved scholarly project, you can look up your project and find the unique link to its verification form.
