Anna Mathis

Undergraduate Student, Aerospace Engineering
Minor: Global Engineering

What are you are studying/what you are interested in studying and/or researching while at Purdue? If you have done internships or other applicable experiences, feel free to include them here.

I am studying aerospace engineering and am especially interested in learning about the structures of spacecraft. I am not currently involved in research but am interested in pursuing a research position in the future, ideally in structures or propulsion. I am currently an intern for the City of Wheaton to gain experience in the engineering field. I am a member of the GEARE program and am planning to study abroad and intern abroad in Spain. I am also a member of the Purdue Space Program on the High-Altitude team, which had a successful launch this year and has multiple projects in the works for the future.

What made you want to join the Leading Women Toward Space Careers program?

I wanted to join the Leading Women Toward Space Careers program to make connections in the space industry as well as gain inspiration and advice as to what it is like to be a woman in this field.

What area would you like to work in after graduation? (What career path, interests, opportunities, etc., would you like to accomplish? What field are you interested in?)

I hope to work in the space industry upon graduation where I want to be at the forefront of exploration. My goal is to make the space industry more environmentally friendly, to protect the Earth as we explore beyond it. I also believe that learning more about other planets can help us better understand our own.
