Biography

Daniel Froid

Daniel Froid is a visiting clinical assistant professor in the Honors College and director of the R1: Research Accelerator learning community. His research focuses on eighteenth-century British literature, with interests in literary form and genre as well as the history of science and religion. His book project focuses on devils and curiosity in the period, investigating how literary texts use devils to articulate forms of curiosity that are driven by perverse objects or seeks ends that defy social and intellectual convention. He received his PhD in English from Purdue University, and his scholarly work appears or is forthcoming in the Journal of Early Modern Cultural Studies, Eighteenth-Century Fiction, and SEL Studies in English Literature 1500-1900, among others.
