The John Martinson Honors College is a home for students that are motivated to have an interdisciplinary network. The JMHC offers programming and options for students to become well-rounded leaders that are prepared to make waves within and outside of their fields. Honors students take their next giant leap by getting involved, asking questions, and using their skills to make meaningful change while creating lasting memories along the way.

Leveling Up in Honors

Pathfinder

  • Complete HONR 19901 and HONR 19902
  • Have completed six Honors credits by the end of your first year
  • Meet with your Honors Advisor

Rising Scholar

  • Have completed 12 Honors credits by the end of your second year
  • Meet with your Honors Advisor

Honors Scholar

  • Have completed 18 Honors Credits by the end of your third year

  • Maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA

The Value Behind Becoming an "Honors Laureate"

From starting as a first-year student to becoming a Rising Scholar and Honors Laureate, the JMHC will provide students with academic, social, and professional events as well as specialized advising. During their journey, the JMHC aims to give students spaces where they can learn, grow, lead, and succeed. As JMHC alumni, formative experiences enhanced by the honors college should inspire new leaders and changemakers to dive into their new spaces across the globe.

Abigail Mizzi

Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering | Class of 2025

Abigail is performing research on the Purdue 1 suborbital spaceflight in 2027. She is currently getting her M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering


Claire Lee

Political Science & Economics | Class of 2018

Claire Lee is currently a Managing Associate at Sidley Austin LLP. A Stamps Scholar at the JMHC who went onto the University of Chicago Law School as a Tony Patino fellow, Claire has expertise in many aspects of commercial and private litigation.


Paige Rudin Kinzie

Multidisciplinary Engineering | Class of 2019

Paige is currently a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the JMHC. During her studies, she completed many service-learning projects abroad and was also a recipient of the Truman Scholarship. Later, she was named an ORISE fellow and awarded the Boehringer Ingelheim Veterinary Scholarship.

Kate graduated from Purdue’s Honors College and College of Liberal Arts in 2017 with a degree in Anthropology where she specialized in political ecology. Kate is now the Director of Communications and Outreach at Salmon Valley Stewardship, a community-based conservation nonprofit in rural central Idaho.

If you’re a prospective student applying to Purdue this fall, you’re invited to apply to the John Martinson Honors College! All applications must be submitted through the Common App by Nov. 1, Purdue’s Early Action deadline.

All applicants are evaluated holistically, and there are no GPA or testing requirements to be considered!
