Student Spotlight: Beau DeLaet

Our final student spotlight of the year is Mr. Beau DeLaet, a sophomore in Construction Engineering and Management from Wausaukee, Wisconsin, population of 575. Beau hopes to use his degree to pursue a career as a project manager for large buildings or sports stadiums. Coming from a very small high school, Beau was interested in stepping out of his comfort zone at a much larger university.

This week we are spotlighting freshman Jacob Nolley from Shelbyville, IN. Jacob is majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing. When asked why he chose Purdue, he divulged that he simply knew it was home from the first time he visited.

This week we are spotlighting junior Michael Joseph Wadas. Michael is a Mechanical Engineering major from Munster, Indiana. He aspires to pursue a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at either Purdue University or the University of Michigan before landing a highly technical role in industry. This week’s student spotlight is a sophomore from Carol Stream, Illinois, and her name is Emma Noelke. Emma is double majoring in African American Studies and Educational Studies, and based off of her choice of majors, I was not surprised by her future plans.

Our student spotlight this week is Anand Balar, a sophomore in Computer Information Technology from Valparaiso, Indiana. He aspires to obtain a law degree after he completes his undergraduate studies so that he may be a policy adviser on information security policy.


Student Spotlight: Jack Kurfman

Our student spotlight this week is Jack Kurfman, a sophomore Honors student from Chesterton, Indiana. Jack is currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics with Computer Science. After receiving his Bachelor’s degrees, he aspires to attend graduate school to obtain a PhD in mathematics and, one day, become a math professor. Jack is clearly very passionate about mathematics and would no doubt exude that passion in a classroom of his own.

Our student spotlight this week is Mary Mulligan. Mary is a sophomore in Chemical Engineering from Dyer, Indiana. She says Purdue was an obvious choice for her, one of her reasons being that it is in-state. However, she doesn’t intend to dwell among the corn fields in Indiana for much longer.

This week we caught up with yet another astounding Honors student, Jordan Paine. Jordan is a Junior in Agricultural Education and Political Science from Oxford, Nebraska. Her dream is to work in corporate agricultural law and maintain a small herd of registered Simmental cattle.


Student Spotlight: Miranda Campbell

Miranda Erin Campbell, a Junior from Laughlintown, Pennsylvania, has captured our attention recently. She is a junior majoring in Theatre Design and Production with minors in Sociology and LGBT studies. Miranda aspires to work in the theatrical field, which she admits could place her in any city around the country or globe. Outside of theatre, however, she also intends to continue as well as expand her activism as she gains new connections, insights, and resources.
